Queso

  • Description-  Queso, is one of the younger horses on the University of Kentucky string. Although young, Queso, has had experience in both grass, and arena polo. She is extremely handy and is a team favorite. For the past two seasons Queso has been on the girls string but will be moving to the boys string this fall and will be competing at the University of Virginia Fall invitational under freshman William Green.

 

Jack

  • String- Men's and Women's
  • Description- Jack, is the oldest horse on the University of Kentucky String, but you would never know. When Jack is not acting like a 2 year old he is one of the nicest horses to ride of the Kentucky Horses. He has the softest mouth out of all our horses, and is extremely light on his feet. Although a great player, and important member of the team, Jacks enjoys to run around the field and avoid being caught. This is Jacks second year on the Kentucky string and he will be competing at the University of Virginia Fall invitational under Tommy Huber.

 

Columbia

  • Breed- Thoroughbred
  • Donor- Callan Strouss
  • String- Men's
  • Description- Columbia, is a very handy mare and gives your 110% every time she plays. She has had experience in both arena, and grass polo and is a machine if there was one. Columbia has is able to play the hardest, and longest out of all of the Kentucky horses. Although a member of the boys string, Columbia was very important piece to the girls victory in the preliminary championships last spring. This will be her second year on the Kentucky string and she will be competing this fall at the University of Virginia Fall invitational under Ben Lynch.

 
Willie

  • String- Men's, and Women's 
  • Description- Willie, was donated last spring to the University of Kentucky string. Although young, and new to arena polo, she is an extremely laid back mare. She has become a team favorite and has been a very reliable team player on both the men's, women's, and club activities. We look forward to working with her more this year and will be taking her as a spare for experience to the University of Virginia Fall Invitational.
 

Cajun

  • Description- Sugar, is a very handy mare who is knew the the U.K string this fall. We are very thankful to welcome her onto the team, and are looking forward to competing her at the University of Virginia Fall invitational this fall.

 

Elmo

  • Donor- Sean Surtin
  • String- Men's
  • Description- Elmo, is a seasoned arena player, and has spent some time playing outdoor polo as well. Elmo was donated two years ago and has always been apart of the men's string, however many of the girls enjoy stick and balling him do to his docile personality and smooth gaits. Elmo will be competing at the University of Virginia Fall Invitational under junior Ben Lynch.

 

Bonita

  • Description- Bonita, is a very honest mare who gives 110% every time she plays. The girls love to play her because she has a light mouth, and is very light on her feet. Bonita has been a part of the University of Kentucky string for 3 years now, and we are excited to welcome her back for the 2017 season.

 

Romance

  • Breed- Thoroughbred
  • Donor- Eddy Martinez
  • String- Men's and Women's
  • Description- Romance, was donated in the spring of 2017 and is the youngest on the U.K. string. We are excited to see her progression throughout the year, as she will be kept in lighter games until she becomes more accustomed to polo. She is very athletic with very smooth gates, and will most likely float between the girls and guys strings.

 

Sugar

  • String- Men's
  • Description- Cajun, is a very reliable mare who can be ridden by any level of rider. She has extensive experience on the grass and the U.K. boys team is excited to welcome her onto the team for the fall 2017 season. Cajun will be playing in her first University of Kentucky match at the University of Virginia Fall Invitational under Tommy Huber.

 

Paz

  • String- Women's
  • Description- Paz, is a very straightforward mare who can play on the women's string, step it up and play on the men's string, and then play in a club practice. She traveled to her first match for the preliminary tournament in Atlanta last spring with the women's team, and then to Nashville this fall with the men's team. We are looking forward to watch Paz progress here at U.K polo!

Charm

  • String- Women's
  • Description- Charm is a very straight forward, honest horse. She teaches our new riders how to ride, our new club members how to play, and can turn around and play in an intense girls game. She was donated by an alumni member Posey Obrecht and returns to Posies each summer to teach kids how to ride. Charm is a very important asset to our program and we are thankful for her everyday.
